Sat at the bat alone and the bartender took forever to ask what I wanted b/c she assumed I was waiting on someone. She scooped ice with the glass instead of the ice scooper which you shouldn't do as glass can break and blend in with the ice. Salad was okay. Slow service and trashy customers

Disappointed. First time here and had high hopes. Got the onion rings and boneless wrong which were good. Four out of six of us ordered burgers, some medium, some medium rare. They all showed up well done and dry. The fries were limp and barely cooked through. A assume the waitress knew things were not good, cause she never asked how things were. Not interested in coming back anytime soon. And what is up with the chairs on the patio? We all mentioned how low to the floor they were.

Shame on me for not checking the Yelp reviews!!!! The food was horrible! I had the New York New York Reuben with Cajun seasoned fries. I must've gotten a no-show's order from earlier in the day. I couldn't even eat one of the hard cold fries. The pastrami was mostly dried out, hard and cold. I also had the Walleye Fries which were so full of grease I became nauseous after just two. What a waste! Stay away!!!!!!

Once upon a time, I used to come to Gabe's quite regularly. It was walking distance from home, the food was good (buffalo chicken wrap was my jam) and the service got the job done. Somewhere along the line, things have gone off the rails a bit. The food is ok. No wrap to be seen. The biggest difference is the service. I've stopped by a few times over the last couple years and had not great service. Mostly just slow. Last weekend, Gabe's was the "headquarters" for the winter classic broomball tournament. Immediately, a few things should come to mind. It's going to be busy, there are going to be hungry/thirsty dudes and there are going to be people that need to get in/out on a schedule. These things did not seem to occur to management. We came in at 10am. No food until 11am. Huh? You couldn't have set up a little breakfast buffet or had a fryer going for some chicken strips? Wow. Service was adequate. Came back in at 12:30. It was busy but not insane. They were terribly understaffed. Our server did her best but she was managing way too many tables. My walleye sandwich was pretty good but everything was overshadowed by our paranoia of clock watching and attempting to negotiate food/drinks/bills/payment/gettingthehellouttathere.

What mom says goes, especially on her birthday. But don't tell mom she's not always right. With this place she missed the mark, but boy do I still love her! It was a busy Sunday full of Bingo, sports and Groupon patrons. I'm all for the fun and craziness, but waiting 15 minutes to be greeted at our table was a not acceptable. Especially, when the waitresses passed us by three times. When we finally received our meals we were less than thrilled. The birthday gal ordered the black and blue beef tips that promised to be Cajun seasoned and seared tenderloin. What she received was a chewy plate of less than seasoned meat on a bed of wilted haystack onions. To the dishes delight, the vodka blue cheese sauce was actually quite good. But, when is vodka blue cheese sauce not good? My sister and I opted for the quesadilla which was your stereotypical quesadilla on a grilled tortilla filled with Monterey jack and cheddar cheese, and served with lettuce, pico de gallo, black olives, guacamole, salsa, and sour cream. It was what you would expect from a place like Gabe's. Nothing to write home about - just regular bar food. When looking around at the clientele it seemed to be a regulars type of bar. The people that go there, go there because they have been for the past 5 - 10 years. For the others, I am doubting that the regular status will ever develop. Unless you are starving and are desperate for a place to catch a glimpse of the game, you are going to want to drive on down the street for a satisfying taste to eat.

I had the most unpleasant experience with this place. Pro: Shuttle to Saints Game Cons: Manager's People Skills Bought a Groupon that had a buffet here (don't expect much) and then a shuttle to a Saints game. During the bar/restaurant buffet I noticed that almost everyone had a beverage. So I asked a server if were able to get a soda with our meal and he said the other waiter will take care of it. So I asked the waiter if a coke would be possible with my meal? And he said yes and didn't say anything else. At the end I received a small bill for my drink, confused I asked my waiter about the bill. And all the waiter said was 'oh drinks are not included but i can get the manager'. Next was the most unpleasant 5 minutes of my life to the point I cried because I felt so disrespected. The manager stormed up to us and flew his arms up telling me that drinks are not included. I explained why the situation was so confusing. And right away he goes, 'well we all have to make a living! And this is a GREAT DEAL!' And went on to tell me that I was accusing him of this and that. His voice raised so loudly that people were looking over. Seriously!? People next to us were even telling me that was unnecessary. All he had to say was, 'I'm sorry no one explained that to you. We will make sure customers know before hand in the future." Because 1. Seriously, no one said anything about paying for a soda. 2. Is the manager seriously going to fight a customer on a 2.25 soda? 3. The groupon doesn't say anything about there being soda or no soda. 4. It isn't that good of a deal $50 for two for food and tickets. Tickets are 10-15 bucks each, metro transit is free, and I can go eat someone elses delicious food.

The food, just like the service, is always a hit or miss. I live right next door to Gabe's, so it's convenient for me to walk over and grab a beer and some food. However, if I did not live right next door, I would seldom come here, if ever. Right when you walk into Gabe's there is a "please wait to be seated" sign. Every single time I have visited Gabe's, I stand at the sign awkwardly for about a minute or two waiting to be seated, all while servers are walking right by me and the bar tender makes eye contact with me never bothering to offer some assistance. As a result, every single time I have come to Gabe's I end up settling to seat myself in a bar booth. I don't mind seating myself and I don't mind sitting in the bar area, but don't place a sign at the entrance saying you must wait to be seated if you're not going to seat anyone at all. The food here is always pretty sub par. The last time I visited Gabe's I ordered the Margherita pizza, which was lacking in flavor. I asked my server for some parmesan cheese to give it some flavor, which was never received, and neither was the second beer I ordered. If you're going to come here at all, the burgers are probably the best thing on the menu, but don't expect to get them prepared as you ordered. On multiple occasions I have ordered a medium rare burger, only to have my burger served well-done every single time. The only reason Gabe's is receiving two stars instead of one, is because of the convenient shuttles they provide to sporting events, which often brings in a pretty big crowd on the weekends. I am certain that if Gabe's did not provide these free shuttles, there is no way they would still be in business as certainly no one would go out of their way to pay for lousy service and lousy food.

never before have i been brought an iced tea sans ice...until now. ha. The food isn't great either. The service leaves something to be desired. Overall: C-.

I have been coming here off and on for years. Under the old ownership I was always pissed about both the portion, price and quality of my food and eventually just went there for beers. I mostly started returning for the $3 Guinness, then I looked into the new menu. They have some pretty creative burgers now, the prices are about the same as before but portions are bigger and the kitchen seems to have it's shit together. The only thing I miss about the old Gabe's is the build-your-own bloody Mary bar, which I came close drinking myself to death at several times.

We met some friends here before a St Paul Saints game, got quick service and a free shuttle to the game! It was a Saturday night at around 6pm and were able to be seated immediately on the patio, ordered a few drinks and some appetizers. The drinks were cheap and the appetizers were bigger than expected. We ordered the Italian Sausages, Pizza Fries, Cheese Curds and the Fries with Gouda and Bacon.... Don't judge :) The Sausages were tasty and plentiful! The Pizza fries was basically a pizza cut into strips with sauce on the side, super cheesy and the size of a small pizza but nothing too special! The Cheese curds were average, I wish we had waited for Ballpark curds. Everyone liked the Gouda and Bacon Fries the best, Gouda and Bacon! Need I say more. The free shuttle to the game was a nice perk. It was beyond crowded on the ride back but we didn't have to wait!

If there was any way I could give no stars, I would. BF and I dropped by here after going to some train exhibit thing nearby in Bandana Square. The original plan was to stop by the American Burger Bar in downtown, but they weren't open, so we doubled back around to this place that we had briefly considered on our way back to 94-BF's name is Gabe, so we had to try it eventually right? Needless to say, Gabe was very disappointed that "his" restaurant was so crappy. Now, I didn't expect there to be a lot of options for me as I am vegan (maybe a veggie burger, iceberg salad with some vinaigrette, plate of fries if all else fails). Lo and behold, they DID have a veggie burger, which I asked the server for verification that there would be no cheese or anything.....EPIC BURGER FAIL! The patty literally fell apart in my hands and was bone dry. Basically disintegrated if you look at it crosseyed. The flavor would have been good, had it not been necessary to douse the thing in ketchup (I believe seasoned with some cumin since it was black bean based). To make matters worse, our fries were just inedibly salty. I mean, after 4-5 bites, you just can't even take anymore. He said his normal burger was insanely salty as well (couldn't even finish it). And according to him, the cheese curds he had as a topping for his burger were the best part of the meal (and I think the only thing he finished). I feel I should also mention how annoyed I was to have been seated next to the lobster tank. I can't blame them for not knowing I'm vegan, but this is something that should not be happening anyway. It's bad enough these poor things are boiled alive, but they have it set up like a game! Families gather around the "drop-claw" machine and root each other on as one attempts to grab this live animal from the water and they just laugh it up! Ridiculous. The worst part of it all, though was when the server came to ask if we needed boxes. I had made it abundantly clear that I hadn't enjoyed anything and there it was, a mound of uneaten, disintegrated veggie burger on my plate. She asked me twice if I wanted a box, to which I replied, "no, will not be needing a box for THIS." She knew we weren't satisfied at all and she didn't so much as offer compensation or to try another menu item-nothing. The cherry on top was when after Gabe drank all my water because she STILL hadn't refilled his, we actually had to ask for more water. First time I've tipped less than 10%, but to be honest, I wouldn't have felt bad for leaving nothing.

Old fashioned bar .Probably more liked by regulars. Food is average and expensive. Won't be a place I would take anyone.

My family and I bought the groupon for the saints game, which included: 2 tickets, shuttle to and from game, saints t-shirt, 1 free drink per person and a dinner buffet. Overall was not impressed, especially with the buffet and the unprofessional manner of the staff. On the groupon it stated there would be chicken fingers also served (we had a child with us) and it was not being served on the buffet. When we asked the waitress she knew nothing about it and instead of asking a manager, she assumed it was a misprint. Also, said ice cream will be served and it wasn't. The shuttle packed people in like cattle and had people standing in the door way of the bus. Not safe at all. When we got to the game we had a problem with our seats and unfortunately weren't sitting together as a family. When calling gabes and asking to speak to a manager about the situation, they left a message for someone to call us back. The owner called us back and I know it was the owner because he stated several times while talking down to me and raising his voice that "I am the owner!" He was extremely rude about the situation and extremely unprofessional about the whole situation. What should have been a 1-2 minute conversation turned into an almost 5 minute conversation of "the owner" repeatedly cutting me off, raising his voice and talking down to me. Overall, horrible experience and will never step foot into this place again because of the unprofessional, rude man that runs this establishment. You should be ashamed of yourself speaking to a women and handling a situation the way you did.

This is a place where people seem to go for a quick and convenient meet up place after work. Back in the day on occasion, on Wednesday nights, my parents and I used to visit for their Wed night steak special. It was actually pretty good. A decent steak, potato for a decent price. We always seemed to get the same server, Melissa who was great. That was awhile ago. On a more recent visit after their revamp, the service and food seemed to have declined. Everything was just kind of boring and didn't seem all that fresh or have any kind of taste. It's an ok place for a quick meet up, some appetizers and catch up, but for great food, I'm not sure this place is a top choice.

A friend and I went here because we both had coupons that read "$5 OFF Any Food Purchase". The disclaimer just said, "Not valid with other offers." But apparently that also meant we both couldn't use the coupons, one for each of our SEPARATE bills. The manager was rude and yelled when I tried to explain that if that were the case, then the coupon should have also specified, "One coupon per table," which it did NOT. He also told us if we wanted to both use our coupons, then we can sit at separate tables. He was unpleasant and should not be working in customer service. Other than that, the service was slow. The waitress was nice, but you could tell she was stressed (as I would be too if I worked for that jackass). The food was only mediocre and I payed a pretty penny for a rail drink. I will not be going back.

I met some friends here on a week day late afternoon so it was quiet in the back room area, noisier in the bar area. We appreciate we could hear each other. I joined late and the Server quickly made a return trip and was back with a cold beer in a few minutes. I tried what I thought might be the spiciest item on the menu with jalapenos but could not detect any type of spice nor taste the jalapeños. My friend ordered large fries for all of us and they were tasty and non-greasy. Gabes is clean and remodeled to a modern look but still homestyle in appearance like a smaller town restaurant . Service is prompt and food on the bland side but not unacceptable.

Update: I got food poisoning from those gross ribs. No wonder they used so much BBQ sauce to cover up bad meat.

People hate on this place way too much. The service is definitely so-so... Sometimes great, sometimes okay, and sometimes less than satisfactory. This is something they could improve on, but other than that we love this place. Burgers are really, really good. So are the cheese curds. Yum! The tap beer selection is moderate as far as Twin Cities fare goes, but seems to rotate often. They also have a lot of craft beers in bottles, though they are kinda spendy. This is your typical local bar, but with great food. Especially the cookie skillet. Get the cookie skillet. You're welcome.

Have been going to gabes on and off for years. The menu has definitely improved in the last year, better flavors and variety. But....a requested burger cooked to medium has yet to appear in front of me. Maybe have ordered 15 in last year and each and every one was well done. Last time I actually asked the server ahead of time if burgers are cooked to order and when I was told yes, I said it was important that it arrived medium. At this point it's kind of a game for my family. The other reason for my low rating is service; it is unilaterally terrible. On those occasions we find a server that seems friendly AND capable they seem to disappear by the next visit. I am not sure how one supervisor could manage to find every person in the TC who hates customers and bring them together under one roof, but kudos. That said, I live nearby so I will keep trying and hoping for a neighborhood joint I can be proud of.
(2)Carol K.
After the negative reviews of Gabe's that I've read on this site, I was pleasantly surprised with our pre-Saints meal on Friday night. The service was prompt and the burgers were ample and good. The noise level was high, though; not a place for an intimate dinner. I hadn't been to Gabe's in almost 10 years, and found that it was far better than I remembered. And ya gotta love that shuttle! P.S. Shame on anyone who, at ANY restaurant, blames the server for an unsatisfactory meal. He/she is not responsible for what the kitchen turns out!
(4)Brit B.
Decent food, decent drinks, pretty typical sports bar. Kind of hit and miss; I've had some great experiences and some less than stellar ones. Not too expensive though and a fine place to just "drop in for a drink."
(3)Bruce L.
I've wanted to come here for quite some time, not high on my list but on my list nonetheless. Walked in and got the neighborhood feel vibe, nothing too fancy and servers shouting comments to the bartenders, all good. Was about 1/2 full at 7pm on a Monday night. Quite a few TVs scattered throughout the bar and the were on the same station....Wild game. Note: The Timberwolves were also playing at the same time but didn't seem to matter (maybe because of their relevance). I ordered a beer and it showed up a few minutes later. Ordered cheese curds, here a few minutes later. Oh, here comes a bus from the Twins game. According to their website they have a shuttle that leaves Gabes an hour before the first pitch. Cheese curds are pretty good, served with marinara sauce with a little Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. The burgers were served not too quickly but it was fun soaking up the neighborhood vibe and watching the Wild on the many TV's in the area. The burgers were not the best burgers I've ever had but sad to say they weren't even average. I rate a burger on if I have to add ketchup to it and I had to do it to get any flavor from the bacon cheese burger. If your going to serve a bacon cheese burger make sure the bacon is thick enough to give it the bacon flavor that I ordered the burger for! Maybe some of their other dishes are good but I would not come back for for a burger. Sorry Original Gabe's by the Park, maybe you should break away from some of your "original" traditions and add some flavor.
(3)Keith K.
food was ok, service terrible. Not that the waitress was rude, you could just tell she had no desire to be there. Food was bland but palatable. If I lived in SP don't think I'd ever have a reason to return.
(2)MB B.
After flying in from out of town and reading the yelp reviews, we had VERY low expectations--but were pleasantly surprised by the whole thing! The bar is the main focus but there's plenty of quieter seating. Our waitress Marta was very friendly and efficient. Food was average; we ordered tomato basil soup, which was just okay, and a Gabe's build your own veggie burger with carmelized onions and avocado, which was pretty tasty. All of it was VERY inexpensive. We'd give the service a 5 and the food a 3. Don't be fooled by the other reviews, give this place a chance if you're in the area.

I've gone to Gabe's a few times since the old owners have come back, and overall I can't complain. There has been an improvement, but I think there is still alot of room for more improvement. One thing I've noticed since the older owners have come back is that there is far less pre-made food being served - you know, onion rings that come from a brown bag that's been frozen for God knows how long, those kind of things have decreased ALOT. I'm sure some things are still pre-made, but there are more freshly made items available now. Speaking of onion rings - their rings are great. Peppery batter and whatnot - it's good. Overall the food is pretty decent, I haven't had anything that I've thought wasn't good or was poor quality. I think my biggest issue with Gabe's is service. They are a bit on the slower side, but everyone is always friendly so that helps. Check it out for yourself, they have $2.99 beers of the month and now late night happy hour specials.

I have been to this establishment many times over the last ten years. It seems to be always changing in terms of food quality and service for me. And lately, not for the better! Recently I visited again before a Saints game on the Friday night, 8/9/13. It was busy due to the free shuttle service to the game (which I did not use). My guest and I wanted a quick dinner before the game. I decided to have the friday fish special. While the size of the fish pieces they served were fine, the breading was a darker color brown than I like....perhaps the oil was old and needed to be changed...it was also rather dripping in oil with a good amount left on the plate it was served on. But the fries were good and hot. It does not come with coleslaw which is also strange to me. The price was $10.95, reasonable for all you can eat. Being a Wisconsin college graduate I have been to my share of fish frys but this is the FIRST TIME EVER I have been charged on the bill for ordering extra tartar sauce. Yes, you read that right....50¢ each for a tiny tub of tartar sauce that holds about two tablespoons....crazy, unheard of....a cheap shot to jack up the bill ?? I mentioned it to our waitress....I asked her...why don't they charge for extra ketchup? There are other options before the game, this was enough to upset me....I won't be back. Who has ever heard of charging extra for tartar sauce. I won't miss Gabe's when the Saints move downtown. I should add that they didn't tell me about the extra charge beforehand, it just showed up on the bill and that is when I questioned it. Further they charged me for two extra when I only received one! At least they corrected that for me....I do not recall seeing this extra charge listed on the menu. But, you get my point!

Stopped here with friends after the Color Run. It was my first and last experience here. The service was horrible (took forever, forgot items, messed up the bils) the drinks were inconsistent (bloody's with nothing on a scewer, some got olives and no chaser) and the food was awful(tons of bread and green gooey hash towns). I will never go back!
(1)Haley G.
Great place for a Packer game!! Good beer and front flip specials. Kelly was a great server twice for us now!
(4)Esther K.
Had a Groupon... Wow plan to get here EARLY because you'll be waiting and waiting and waiting! Food: sub par had the sirloin which probably would have been good but it was way over done. Not sure how you screw up mashed potatoes but they did tasted like sour milk. Rum and coke boneless wings hubs liked the flavor but they were dry. Service: our server was very nice but overwhelmed. Forgot stuff over and over again. Never redeemed the Saints tickets, service took too long and we missed it! :(
(2)C N.
This place was supposedly remodeled recently but you wouldn't know it. Super dated decor. A few new TVs but horrible service and they won't even turn the TV sound on for a national football game. No Twins game on either! Very slow service. Soap dispenser in bathroom is broken. Plus the restaurant side was about 15 degrees too cold.
(1)Jim H.
Hey, it's not Hennepin Ave, but the food is good, the prices reasonable and the service terrific. Gig's is working hard trying to bring it back after the previous owners performed so poorly and let so many folks down. Go - expecting a nice neighborhood bar that serves decent food and that's what you'll find. The Michaelbob's ribs are every good, as is the Chicken Cordon Bleu. Also enjoyed the Shrimp Scampi. For a real sugar high, try the "Skillet Cookie". A fresh chocolate chip cookie baked in a skillet and topped with ice cream and chocolate. One will serve four - extremely rich! Lots of TVs, buses to the Twins, Vikes, Saints and others. It's not fancy, but we found it to our liking.
(4)Tom F.
After a very sub par experience here a year ago, I went back. Its blocks from home and i still wish it was somewhere that i could be a regular at. While the food was much improved since my last experience, the service still sucked. I don't expect to be treated like a king when i sit at the bar (anywhere) either. But for some reason both bartenders were rude to us. The guy was chippy and i'm still waiting on my side of ranch BTW(asked twice). This was the first time I ever tipped less than 15%. And i didn't even feel bad about it. Up'd the star rating by one because my food was good(even though i waited forever for it.)
(2)Kristin O.
Four stars for the food. Four stars for the service. Minus one star for the bartender screw up my Groupon redemption and essentially accusing me of ripping them off. When he realized that he made a mistake and it was all fixed, he did not apologize or own up to his error. We've loved Gabe's for years and were never treated so rudely. Greatly disappointed in having this experience at a place we had always felt at home.
(3)Donna D.
Went to Gabe's for lunch yesterday at 11:15am. The place was busy for a weekday being that it was still early for lunch. The waitress was prompt and the food was delivered in a timely fashion. I had the Gabe's burger 2.99 with cheese extra .99 and fries extra 1.99. Not a bad price for a burger and fries. It is a bar and they serve bar food.
(4)Katie K.
Great place to watch the packers game! Great atmosphere, good food and the service was fast and friendly! Exactly what I looking for to watch the game!
(5)Greg B.
Went to this restaurant on Saturday night before the Saints game and, I am not exaggerating when I say that it was, by far, the worst dining experience I have ever had. We showed up 15 minutes early for our 6pm reservation and were told there were no tables available. We then waited nearly an hour for a table and, when we were finally seated, we were told that it would be at least an hour before our food would come because their kitchen was so backed up. We asked if they would comp us a round or app or something to make the wait more tolerable and were told in no uncertain terms that no they would not because the whole restaurant was experiencing this problem. I am not sure how a restaurant that prides itself on having a shuttle to the Saints game does not anticipate having lots of people come before a Saints game. Once we did get our food it was subpar at best. Salads were soggy, ribs were cold in the middle, the walleye was bland and the burgers were overcooked. To top the evening off, the canoli for dessert was still frozen in the middle. Unfortunately, after waiting an hour for the food, we weren't about to send anything back for fear of never seeing the Saints game. I realize that it is bar food, but, even by low standards, the food was awful and the execution was even worse.
(1)Nancy A.
This is my second and last try at Gabes. It is nearby so I was hoping the first visit was just off. The service was good this time but the food remained uninspired, greasy, tasteless and expensive.
(1)Pat W.
We've been here twice with the same results. If you are seated in the back room, it's nice and quiet, true..... and the waitress ignores you. This last time we asked to move to where someone was actually working. After re-seating, we ordered fish 'n chips and a steak dinner with a side salad and rice. We received my steak as ordered, and my husbands fish......no 'chips'. We asked the waitress, and she brought him a big of potato chips from the bar. So we pointed out that menu says this should be fish and french fries. She didn't know that because 'she was new'. When we got the bill we were charged extra for my included side dish. She was equally perplexed by that. The food is good, but we wonder if the hassle is worth it. We will think twice before returning.
(2)Dan S.
There are some gems, in terms of food. I really like the chicken fingers and their buffalo chicken pizza. Their Castro is decent, could use a little more flavor, but the food isn't bad. The prices are pretty reasonable and the bar tries to cater to just about everyone with some private areas, booths, patio, and game area.
(3)Jan J.
Went to Gabe's with friends for a Saturday evening dinner. It's not fancy, but the service was attentive and friendly and we had a wonderful meal. We'll certainly go back if we're in the area.
(3)John D.
We have been going to gabes for about 16 years, but moved out of St. Paul so we had not been there in a few years. Went there for dinner the other night, the food and service was horrible! We were seated by the bartender, then waited for about 10 minutes before our server came over and said "What do you want to drink" I am not high maintenance, but that is just rude. After I got my beer, it tasted like their lines were very dirty, or the beer was stale. We then ordered some cheese curds for an app. They were the best part of the meal, but how hard is it to mess up cheese curds! After our curds my wife and I ordered burgers. After waiting about 45mins, our food had still not arrived and the server never came back to refill our drinks either. I had to get up and ask the bartender where our server was and where our food was, he said she was getting it in the back. After almost a hour our burgers came...YUCK! I know the reason it took so long, because they pretty much charred the burgers black, they looked like hockey pucks. I was not about to ask for another one because we had already waited super long. I told our server it was horrible and just picked at it, and all she said was sorry (Not even can I get you something else) It's a shame that this place has gotten this way, I remember when it was a great nice place with good food. Now the place looks like a chuckie cheese on the outside and is very outdated on the inside! The website states: Giggles reluctantly sold the business in 2004 and it has been through two different owners since. In January 2011, Giggles took over ownership and renamed the Como Park favorite "The Original Gabe's By The Park". Well I remember the reason giggles sold the place because he almost went to jail for gambling at his bar and I think that is why he had to sell!! Its sad this bar is in the shape it is, will not be returning anytime soon.

Came from Como pool with kids for an early dinner. $3 burgers YUM Mine had melted blue cheese crumbles and I loved it. Great price for burgers, fries and soda. Really nice, FAST waitress. We sat outside on the big deck; very nice. The inside is huge-lots to do if you have antsy kids (ours were exhausted from swimming and just sat there).Video games, foosball etc. Great for large groups. Only downside; fries weren't good at all...tasted like they were fried in really old oil. I still will come back for burgers though.

I can't tell what type of people would or should come here. There's 80's music playing, 20 somethings at the bar and the AARP in the booths. Don't get why anyone would end up here.

Has a nice "old" feel to it, but my waitress was slower than a turtle. Ugh. All food were on a bit salty side. Beer and tea were good. MEH.

Gabe's is alright. The beer is great AND cheap! I always get a Black & Tan when I come here. I've always had friendly bartenders and servers. It does tend to take a while to get food if the place is busy, but that's expected. I've never had long waits for food during their slow times. The food is really hit or miss, although I'd say it usually leans toward miss. Their food is overly greasy (even for bar food) and super salty. Also, avoid the green beans because they pour some weird sauce on them. I'd really only recommend this place for drinks.

Typical sports bar. Food is ok, nothing extraordinary. Bar is small but fun to sit at. There is a very interesting crowd, especially if there is a twins or saints bus. The games create a nice atmosphere within the place. I have never been there for aside from going to a game so I am probably not a good judge of what it is like on a typical night.

Gross gross gross. And, this is coming from someone who loves dives. Do not eat the food. If you have to eat at Gabe's go to the one attached to Fogarty Ice Arena. Skip this P.O.S. until they learn how to make decent food and have staff that is worth a nickel.

Those who says that the food is good probably had too much to drink that night. The food was horrible. Do not plan on going back again. Went there to use my groupon. Food was overall under-seasoned and the only good experience about going to this place was the $2.99 Guiness deal for St Patty's celebration. This place has lots of potential so they should really pay more attention to the chef in the kitchen.

I will never go back. I work in the service industry and dine out frequently. My party was asked to move tables after being sat at a different table and after they gave away our original table. We were at the establishment to watch a hockey game (~4 hr) & the server came to the table 3 times. The server charged us for items we didn't order then proceeded to argue with at the table about it causing a huge scene in the restaurant. Not impressed with the food or service. I will not be returning.

The food is OK, but this service is pretty low key. Super annoying that they don't have a drink menu. There are much better places in the cities, but this isn't terrible.

The Buffalo wings were AMAZING! So much more meat and sauce than other places- and I guess the other sauces are just as good if not better (I'm a Buffalo girl myself). The service was nice and helpful as well (a tad slow but we weren't in a hurry). We had a lovely time sitting on the patio. Also, we've taken the shuttle to saints games before and it's so convenient! Definitely a great place to hit before (or after) a game!

Can't even have pulltabs open for normal hours and the service is sub par. Too bad, it is a prime location.
